Us and our projests

We do take care, not to change the world but to love it, because love is the only answer.

  We are a group of 9 Italian boys and girls. We left Iyaly for one month of volunteering in a country so different from ours. Our organization is called VOICA, Canossians International Volunteering 

 In our month of volunteering in Piabetà, we organized an educational project for children between 6 to 14 years old, which usually spend their days on the street without going to school. We are not heroes; we are ordinary students, with the wish to meet new people and help.

 

HAPPY AUGUST:

This was the nick name that the Brazilian children gave to our project with them in Piabetà: it was 4 weeks of very simple activities, that everybody could organize, but that involved and made curious more than 150 children and their families, of course. Here it is what it was all about:

 

( 22 years old, student in Brescia) He was the only man of the group: he had been a bricklayer, a painter, a gardener, a sweeper and  whatever he could do! In Piabetà you can't never relax!!

 

(22 years old, from Ancona) She took care of the younger children teaching them how to draw, play and make paper figures using very poor materials.

 

( 33 years old from Ancona and Foggia). They took care of the English course, very difficult for them that sometimes can't even read or write, but that made us very satisfied because our little Brazilian friend started to thank and to greet us using this new language.

 

 

  

( 33 year old from Modena). It was very very loved her  computer course, where the kids could play and make  simple operations with this tool, that nowadays is so important. 

(26 years old, from Palermo). She is the one who had been closer to the poor people of Piabetà. She is a student of Medicine, almost graduated and she used up all her knowledge to treat sick people in a little surgery in the convent and going from slum to slum to bring medicines and lots of love. 

(22 years old, from Ancona). It wasn't difficult to her to involve kids of Piabetà in a dance course: a little bit of gym, some easy steps to learn and games of coordination, everything on the rhythm of Brazilian music.

 

 

 WE STILL TAKE CARE FROM ITALY:

       Sending  a dentist seat: an Italian dentist donated to Piabetà mission a dentist seat, almost new and perfectly working. Medicines mailed and volunteer doctors are the only sanitary assistance for lots of poor people. 

       A yard for Baixada Fluminense boys: here boys and girls spend their days on the street, a place very dangerous where they easily start with drug and prostitution. We want to create a safe place for them where they can meet and play. That's why we want to buy a field of 30X90 m2.

        Charity in our Churches: there are so many people who need our help in Piabetà. We organize little markets or dinner to pick up money that the Canossian Sisters use to help the poorer families.

       Talking in the schools and in the Churches: we want to spread the idea that we have to take care of unluckier people. We can't ignore them living in our waste lives. We can change things!!
